Grading Committee: Chair plus 3 to 8 members.

Kata Committee: Chair plus 3 to 8 members
Appointment:

Chair of the Grading committee is appointed by the Board of Directors. The Chair and Board of Directors will appoint other members of the committee.

Chair of Kata subcommittee is appointed by the Board of Directors. The Chair and Board of Directors will appoint other members of the Kata subcommittee.
Meeting Frequency:
Meetings will be as called by the chairperson. No less than 6 meetings a year.
Strategic Objectives:

Collaborate with clubs to improve consistency of mudansha grading and encourage alignment with Judo Canada’s Kyu Grading syllabus

Increase access to Kata, Nage Waza, Katame Waza, Grading programs and information province wide.

Improve standardization with Judo Canada National Grading Syllabus.
Purpose:

The committee, through the Chair, will be an Active Advisor to the Board of Directors. The committee will research and review policy issues, and then propose action in the form of a recommendation to the Board for approval.

Ensure website section relating to committee is up to date

In person clinics (Kata, Nage waza, Katame waza) offered a minimum of at least once every year and a minimum of 2 black belt grading clinics offered annually
Mission Statement for Clinics:

To answer the question: “why should I practice kata other than to grade” and, to encourage more judoka, regardless of rank, to begin practicing kata as a technical aid to learning good judo skills.

National Kata Evaluator training organized in conjunction with Judo Canada.
Policy Responsibility:
The Committee will be responsible for research and oversight of the following organizational policies and documents:

Judo NS Mudansha Syllabus

Judo NS Mudansha Evaluation Guidelines for Clubs
Budget:
As approved by the Judo NS Board of Directors
Evaluation:
The Board of Directors will evaluate the performance of the Committee annually. The performance of the committee will be assessed against the accomplishment of yearly objectives/deliverables.
Reporting:
As requested by the Board. The committee also has the duty to report to the full Board all matters that it considers important for full Board consideration.
